The museum provides an immersive experience, allowing visitors to step back in time and explore the lifestyles of Waiheke's early inhabitants. The main exhibition space is a reconstructed woolshed, housing a collection of artifacts that reflect the island's agricultural and maritime heritage. From traditional Māori tools to early European farming equipment, the exhibits offer insights into the daily lives and industries that once thrived on the island.
Adjacent to the woolshed are several restored buildings, each telling its own story:
Day Cottage: A 1930s-style island home, showcasing period furnishings and domestic artifacts.
Champion, Keane, and Goodwin Cottages: These bach-style houses feature photo exhibits and room settings that depict the evolution of island living.
