Honoring Nature and Legacy at Māwhitipana Ridge Estate

Māwhitipana Ridge Estate is a single-site vineyard located on Waiheke Island in a sunny coastal valley, producing limited vintages of premium Syrah and Marsanne.

We are two families with a shared passion for creating something special, with ‘awata’ or soul. Together, we are deeply committed to kaitiakitanga - protecting and enhancing the land or life force for our children, future generations, and the local community. Our legacy is to respect and restore this land to a sustainable future.

Hand-produced, our wine naturally expresses the character of our site, from the heavy clay soil to the coastal elements, sunny slopes, and low-intervention, sustainable growing techniques. With award-winning winemakers, Michael Wood and Heinrich Storm we produce wine in a way that honors the distinct characteristics of the unique site, soil, and vines.

Arcadia Waiheke

Arcadia Restaurant, Where Fresh Flavors and Friendly Vibes Meet

According to Greek mythology, Arcadia is an idyllic vision of unspoiled wilderness, a paradise home to bountiful natural splendour and simple pleasures. We think this sums up Waiheke Island’s Palm Beach, and the way we run our restaurant perfectly. It is the simple pleasures in life that bring us the most joy. Catching up with friends & family over a few drinks, eating delicious food made from great produce. Our menu is not fussy, we use fresh quality ingredients in all our delicious swishes. Our service style is laidback & friendly. We are here for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. You can set yourself up for the afternoon in the front courtyard, watching the foot traffic go by. Cosy up inside for a romantic dinner for two, or get a group together and make the most of our covered deck and beer garden area.

Te Korowai O Waiheke

Join the Journey to a Predator-Free Waiheke with Te Korowai o Waiheke

Te Korowai o Waiheke is a community-led charitable trust focused on making Waiheke Island predator-free to protect and restore its unique natural environment. The organization is working on an island-wide project with two main stages: first, the eradication of stoats, and second, comprehensive trials to control and remove rat populations. This effort aims to create a sanctuary where indigenous birds, lizards, insects, and plants can thrive. With community involvement, impact reports, and educational outreach, Te Korowai o Waiheke envisions an ecologically vibrant, predator-free Waiheke, benefiting both the environment and future generations.

The trust relies heavily on community support, from participating in rat and stoat eradication to promoting responsible pet ownership. Te Korowai o Waiheke also collaborates with experts and runs public programs, like backyard trapping, to engage locals in conservation efforts. Impact reports, available on their website, detail progress, challenges, and the effectiveness of various pilot programs.

Te Korowai o Waiheke’s commitment extends beyond eradication; it fosters a deeper connection between residents and their natural surroundings. This aligns with initiatives like the Surfdale Trial, where rat control methods were evaluated, and visits from Wero, a stoat detection dog. Each step forward brings Waiheke closer to becoming the world’s first predator-free urban island, showcasing what can be achieved when communities unite for conservation. Learn more or get involved by visiting Te Korowai o Waiheke.
