Connie Aldao and Carl Worker are proud to present their popular Waiheke restaurant Vino Vino, showcasing a delicious fusion of Mediterranean and South American flavours.
Connie Aldao is not just a celebrated Argentine chef but a culinary artist who has woven her passion for food into a remarkable journey. Born and raised in the heart of Argentina, her love affair with cooking began under the guidance of the legendary Francis Mallmann, the master of open-fire cooking. For 12 years, she proudly stood as a cornerstone of "Team Mallmann," evolving from a student of the craft to the general manager and head chef.
The turning point came in 2002 when the 1884 Restaurant, a creation of "Team Mallmann," secured its place on the prestigious list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. It was a moment of international recognition that fuelled her culinary journey. Fast forward to 2006, and Kiwi diplomat, Carl Worker captured her heart, and lead them to New Zealand and eventually to Waiheke Island in 2015.
Connie's time working in one of the top restaurants in the world has shaped her unique culinary style, which she is now sharing with Waiheke Island.
Waiheke Island became her culinary canvas during her tenure as the Head Chef at Stonyridge Vineyard from 2015 to 2017. Subsequently, destiny led her to Hong Kong from 2018 to 2019, where she orchestrated the grand opening of Madame Fu Grand Cafe Chinois. As the inaugural Executive Director of Operations, she spearheaded a team of 70 staff, transforming Madame Fu into one of Hong Kong’s most beloved venues.
Carl and Connie returned to Waiheke in 2021, to embark on a new chapter with the opening of Vino Vino by Connie Aldao. Here, they bring the flavours of the Mediterranean and South America to life, complemented by a carefully curated selection of regional wines and signature cocktails. Vino Vino has quickly become a cherished spot on the island, showcasing the essence of Waiheke Island Restaurants through its warm service and delectable culinary offerings.
In the kitchen of Vino Vino, Argentina's Mediterranean heritage from Italy and Spain dances with the flavour of the charcoal grill. Connie's culinary goals are simple yet profound: to craft delicious food, offer warm service, provide fine value, and leave diners delighted, and eager to return. "It's not just about the ingredients; it's about creating an experience that lingers in the hearts of those who savour it. Welcome to my world of flavours, where every dish tells a story, and every meal is an invitation to delight in the art of dining."
Vino Vino's unique blend of Mediterranean and South American cuisine makes it stand out from other restaurants on the island.
